2014 Summer with Yorkies # 1

With the start of the summer break and in desperate need of a day away from home,  my mom,  aunt,  cousin,  and I got in my car and drove up to Portland,  ME. We decided to bring the two little ones on the trip – packed dog food and treats,  water and water bowls.  It wasn’t a long drive up to Maine, especially with four ladies chatting away like there was no tomorrow (I think we all needed a day of relaxation). The weather was perfect. No one was rushing anyone. No school work to worry.  Just the girls. .. even the four legged family members were girls.  Haha.

After about an hour and a half drive,  we stopped to see Portland Head Light (1000 Shore Road, Cape Elizabeth). Is that not beautiful?!

The dogs were enjoying their time as well. Some stranger accused my dogs of being ‘mean’ and ‘not that friendly, ‘ which kinda made me angry because that was far from the truth. Her kids wanted to pet Happy and Lily. She told her kids that. Ugh- But I let it go. How rude though! Just assuming something like that! Happy and Lily are one of the friendliest dogs you will ever meet!!!!!

Then off we went to The Lobster Shack (225 Two Lights Road, Cape Elizabeth). We decided on this place because of its outdoor eating area… which meant the dogs would be ok. The view was so nice.  And there was a nice breeze from the ocean.  We got some fried clams and lobster rolls for our late lunch.  Delicious!

Happy and Lily were so good on this trip!  This was their first real trip so I was nervous at first but they were so well behaved.  We concluded our last minute day trip in Portsmouth, NH.

Well…technically the day ended at my house with a late night snack – in Korean,  ‘ya-shik (야식).’ We made Korean instant ramyun late at night even though all four of us were worrying about how unhealthy it is to eat so late at night.  I normally wouldn’t eat ramyun,  but this night it tasted particularly great!

After I gave them a bath, both Happy and Lily passed out. It was a long day for them.  But I think they really enjoyed the outdoors because the only outdpors time they get is on their short daily walk and occasional hiking trips near my house.

Good start to my summer!

Yorkie Moment #1

A day with Lily looks something like this…

Lily: “Look! I brought a basketball! Let’s play!!”

Lily: “Wait…How about a game of Frisbee?”
